DLA Piper is mentoring refugee women in the UK and France as part of Tent’s Mentorship Initiative.
Other
DLA Piper provides legal support to refugees and asylum seekers. Know Your Rights (KYR) is the firm’s flagship legal education training program. Launched in 2017, KYR empowers asylum seekers and refugees so that they can become advocates for themselves and better integrate into their new communities. The program consists of training on topics such as employment rights, public speaking, and access to housing and health care systems. To date, DLA Piper lawyers have trained more than 500 refugees and asylum seekers in various locations around the world. The firm will continue this program and is exploring how it can help refugees enter the job market after finishing the training. In addition, DLA Piper is providing pro bono legal services to asylum seekers living on the Greek Island of Samos. This work involves preparing individuals for their asylum interviews, helping with appeals, and family reunification cases. DLA Piper is also providing financial and in-kind support to refugees in Samos.
