Tent Announces Second U.S. Business Summit on Refugees for March 2024

New York City, November 3, 2023 — The second U.S. Business Summit on Refugees organized by the Tent Partnership for Refugees (Tent) – a global network of over 350 companies committed to economically integrating refugees – will take place on March 26, 2024 in New York City.

In June 2022, Tent issued an urgent call to action – led by founder of the Tent Partnership for Refugees and founder and CEO of Chobani Hamdi Ulukaya, Chairman and CEO of Pfizer Albert Bourla, Chairman and CEO of ManpowerGroup Jonas Prising, and EmPath’s Carlos Gutierrez, the former U.S. Secretary of Commerce – challenging the country’s largest employers to commit to hire, train, and support refugees over the following three years. That call to action led to Tent’s inaugural U.S. Summit held last September, where 45 companies pledged to hire over 22,000 refugees and train over 13,000 refugees in the U.S. by the end of 2025. At the halfway point of these commitments, the second U.S. Summit in March will mark the next milestone of this call to action, with companies reporting back on their progress to date.

“Tent’s first U.S. Business Summit on Refugees saw the American business community come together to make unprecedented pledges to hire and train refugees, highlighting the extraordinary contributions that refugees make to the U.S. economy,” said Gideon Maltz, CEO of Tent. “We look forward to spotlighting in March the tireless efforts of these companies to date – especially at a time when the United States continues to welcome significant numbers of refugees.”

“In the past year and half, momentum amongst the U.S. business community to hire refugees has only grown as they increasingly recognize that doing so is both good for society and good for business,” said Yaron Schwartz, Director for the U.S at Tent. “Tent has been proud to work very closely with companies as they’ve built or scaled programs to integrate refugee talent.”

Tent’s business summits are events that provide a platform for business leaders to publicly share their company’s commitment to support the economic advancement of refugees. To learn more, contact [email protected]
