Equity Bank provides inclusive financial services to thousands of refugees living in Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda. The bank offers refugees and host communities access to savings, credit, payment, insurance and investment opportunities. This is through its financial inclusion agenda targeting both households and businesses thus including them economically. In addition, under its shared prosperity model, Equity Bank has fostered partnerships with refugees through its Merchant Banking and Equity Agency to offer banking services locally. The bank has 294 branches and 50,077 agents including those serving refugee and host communities; with 55 of these Agents being owned or managed by refugees. As a business for peace and UN SDGs advocate, Equity also fosters self-reliance and livelihoods of refugee and host communities via capacity building and social impact interventions.
