In 2023, Hempel committed to hire 50 refugees, including Ukrainian refugee women, over three years in the UK. In addition, Hempel committed to provide training to 50 refugees in Spain over three years. It will do so through a dedicated Painters Program for individuals interested in pursuing a career in painting.

Hempel is part of Tent España, exploring opportunities to help refugees enter the labor market, including through employment or job preparation.
