Hiring & Training

In 2023, Microsoft committed to train 5,000 refugees, including Ukrainian refugee women across Europe over three years. Microsoft will do so by providing intensive IT training in,amongst others cyber security and digital skills, in partnership with local organizations such as Redi School, Fundacja Rozwoju Społeczeństwa Informacyjnego, and Instytut Kościuszki, and by connecting the certified refugees to partners and workforce opportunities. In addition, Microsoft and partners will offer wrap around services  such as language support, psychological support and childcare.

In 2022, Microsoft committed to reskilling and supporting 200 refugees to enter the information and communication technology (ICT) job market in the Netherlands over three years. In 2023, the company increased its initial target, and will aim to reach 500 refugees in total through its Azure Academy and other training programs, which equip refugee job-seekers in the Netherlands with the skills, formal credentials, and connections to its customers and partners, to help them succeed as Azure IT and Cloud professionals.

Microsoft is part of Tent México and Tent UK, exploring opportunities to help refugees enter the labor market in these two countries, including through employment or job preparation.

Financial Donation

Microsoft committed to empowering organizations who respond to humanitarian emergencies, as well as the people and communities who are impacted. Since January 2016, Microsoft has invested $4 million in cash and over $30 million in technology solutions.

In-kind Donation

This includes technology and capacity building support for nonprofit digital transformation, connectivity and information solutions like the expansion of the refugee.info platform and TV White Space Kits, and livelihood programs for education, digital skills training, and psychosocial support for refugees.
